x=24+xy
have to get y alone so subtract 24 from both sides
x-24=xy
divide both sides by x to get y alone
(x-24)/x=y
Now we need to plug in the -12
(-12-24)/-12=y
We need to simplify inside the parentheses before we divide
-36/-12=y
Now simplify the left to get your answer
3=y
