Chattel slavery - Taken from the French word for cattle, Chattel slavery is the kind most people think of when they think of slaves - that they are the property of another human being. It is practiced still in the Sudan, in Mauritania and in other places where slaves "spend every minute of the lives taking care of the needs of their master."
