[tex] \left \{ {{x-4y=5} \atop {x=3y-2}} \right. [/tex]

subsititute x = 3 y - 2

[ 3 y - 2 - 4 y = 5 ]

3 y - 2 - 4 y = 5

3y - 4y = 5 + 2

-y = 7 * ( -1 )

y = -7

For x =  3 y - 2

subsititute y = - 7

x = 3 y - 2

x = 3 . ( - 7 ) - 2

x = - 21 - 2

x =  - 23

hope this helps!.
