Why are traffic circles considered safer than traditional intersections?

Because Drivers are forced to slow down before entering the traffic circles, which reduce the maximum speed of vehicles in the circle into 10 - 15 miles per hour.
According to statistic Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, traffic circles are about 75% safer compared to traditional intersections.
