After the French and Indian War, many American Colonists thought things would go back to the way they had been. They were upset to learn that Britain blamed them for the war and was demanding that they pay for the war. Britain imposed taxes and and laws that they hadn't worried about in years. Some colonial legislatures were even suspended because they were seen as part of the problem.
