Out of the four presidents depicted on Mount Rushmore,Theodore Roosevelt is the only one wielding a mustache neatly carved in stone. Roosevelt was unexpectedly appointed as the 26th president of the United States when McKinley was shot and assassinated in Buffalo, New York. He was considered a sharply dressed and groomed man. During his presidency, the mustache helped to display his cowboy and huntsman figure, which helped to make him very popular with the public.
