American Revolution War hero Robert Coram was displeased with the disparate distribution of wealth among those who felt themselves to be civilized. He stated that there was one significant difference between men and savages, being the division of property. To one, the civilized man, Coram said it was the source of happiness. To the other, the Native American, he said it was the fountain of all his misery.
