Lets say the number equals x
Four more than twice a number is 8
4 more than twice a number is 8
4 more than twice x is 8 (twice means 2 times)
4 more than 2x is 8 (more than means to add)
2x + 4 is 8
2x + 4 = 8
2x = 8 - 4
2x = 4
x = 4/2
x = 2
