a negative number divided by a positive number yeilds a negative result
the rule is
if you divide or multiply 2 numbers with different sign (positive or negative), the result is negative
if you divide or multiply 2 numbers with the same sign (+ + or - - ), the result is positive
-42/8=-1 times 42/8=-1 times 21/4=--1 times 5 and 1/4=-5 and 1/4
