The absolute value is always either a zero or a positive number.
Therefore:
If a number is negative, then the number is less than its absolute value.

Examples to better illustrate this:
1- If a number is "0", then its absolute value is also "0" (number is equal to absolute value)
2- If a number is "25", then its absolute value is also "25" (number is equal to absolute value)
3- If a number is "-25", then its absolute value is "25" (number is less than its absolute value).
