First
Outer
Inner
Last
it's a crutch to help you remember which terms to multiply if you have a bad memory like me
so
for
(2a+4)(4a+7)
multily the First terms
2a times 4a=8a²
multiply the Outer terms
2a times 7=14a
multiply the Inner terms
4 times 4a=16a
multiply the Last terms
4 times 7=28
now add them all together
8a²+14a+16a+28=
8a²+30a+28
the product is 8a²+30a+28
