We can create an equivalent equation by using the properties of equality like this:

If x = 3

If we multiply, add, divide or subtract with same number on both sides the equation will still hold equality. For example if we multiply this equation with 3 on both sides we get

3x = 9, this equation still holds equality

In equivalent equation both sides of equation are equal to each other.
