The slope of the line:

in standard form: [tex]ax+by+c=0[/tex]

the slope is [tex]m=- \frac{a}{b} [/tex]

For your line equation: [tex]5x-3y -12 = 0[/tex]

the slope is [tex]m=- \frac{5}{-3} = \frac{5}{3} [/tex]
