  Well, you know that the sum of those two numbers aren't zero, as  they aren't additive inverses of each other. The sum of these numbers will, furthermore, take the sign of the "greater" number without its sign. For example, 2-3 would be negative, since the negative sign of "3" is of the greater number without its sign.
