A photograph measures 8 in. wide by 10 in. long. If the picture is reduced so that the width is 6 in. what is the new length?

Information is missing from this question. It's impossible to know what the new length is.

I assume they want to keep the area the same so I'll base my answer of of that.

The original area = 8 * 10 = 80

So if the area must stay the same 80 = 6 * l

l = length

l = 80 / 6 = 13 1/3 in.
