The distance between the two points is 3 sqrt(5)

distance along the x is 4 - 1 = 3
distance along the y is 8 - 2 = 6
using Pythagoras: 3^2 + 6^2 = 27
square root of 27 = 5.196 = 5.2 to nearest tenth
