There are actually several archetypes that Enkidu fits in Gilgamesh:
1. a trustworthy sidekick - he is Gilgamesh's loyal friend who is always there for him
2. rescuer and hero - he saves Gilgamesh from his untimely death on several occasions
3. innocence - he is a pure and pristine creature who dies once his innocence is compromised
