My created Word problem:

A person walks 50 miles in 500 minutes. If the person walked at an equivalent distance per hour, how far did the person go in 1 hour?

Solving the word problem:

Note that:

  • 50 miles = 500 minutes

Converting the minutes into hours:

  • 500 minutes = 6 20/60 = 6 1/3 hours

Converting the hours into improper fraction:

  • 50 miles = 6 1/3 hours
  • => 50 miles = 19/3 hours

Using cross multiplication:

  • => 50 x 3 miles = 19 hours
  • => 150 miles = 19 hours

Dividing 19 both sides:

  • 150/19 miles = 19/19 hours
  • => 1 hour = 150/19 miles
