Let y=2x-8 be eq. 1
And y=-x-8 be eq. 2
Multiply eq. 2 by 2
Add up eq. 1 + eq. 2
y + 2y= 2x-8 -2x-16
3y= -24 so y=-8
Replace y in the eq. 2
-8 = -x-8
x=0
