Parallel Circuitry means that there is more than one path that the current can follow. In a series circuit, the current can follow only 1 path. So in a series circuit, if one bulb burns out, none of them work.

But the answer to your question is that in a parallel circuit, because there are many paths that can be followed, nothing changes except if you want a bulb to light up and it burns out, you have to replace it.
