I’m going to use the second one to explain

-8j + 14 = -2(4j-7)

So you distribute -2 into the parentheses on the right side, and you get -8j + 14, which is the same as the left side. Therefore, it is a true statement. It turns from a - to a + because it is two negative numbers multiplying by each other.
