Isolate x in the first equation. X = 1-y
Now use that value if x in the other equation.

5(1-y) -4y =-7
5 -5y -4y =-7
-9y =-12
Y = 12/9 or 4/3

Substitute that value of y into either equation to solve for x.

X + 4/3 = 1
X =-1/3

Solution is (-1/3, 4/3)
