Explain how multiplying by 6 is like multiplying by 3

Multiplying a number by 6 is just doubling the number multiplied by 3. In other words, you can half the number multiplied by 6 and you will get the number multiplied by 3.

3 and 6 are multiples or (gcf=greast common factors) and they both even out. Make sense?
