So first, you want to isolate your Y. To do this, you must get it alone on ONE SIDE of the equation.

5x - 2y = 3

-5x         -5x

[tex]\frac{-2y}{-2}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{3-5x}{-2}[/tex]

ANSWER: y = \frac{3-5x}{-2}
