Answer:

y = - 5x - 1

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

Rearrange 5x + y = 4 into this form by subtracting 5x from both sides

y = - 5x + 4 ← in slope intercept form

with slope m = - 5

Parallel lines have equal slopes, thus

y = - 5x + c ← is the partial equation

To find c substitute (- 1, 4 ) into the partial equation

4 = 5 + c ⇒ c = 4 - 5 = - 1

y = - 5x - 1 ← equation of line
