A)
-x + 2y = 8
2y = 8 + x
y = 4 + 1/2x

B)
2x -4y = 5
2x -4(4+1/2) = 5
2x -16 -2 = 5
2x -18 = 5
2x = 23
x = 23/2 or 11.5

To find y

y = 4 + 1/2x (equation found in the A)

y = 4 + 1/2x
y = 4 + 1/2(23/2)
y = 4 + 12
y = 16
