Absolute value is how far away it is from 0. Lets use 6. -6 and 6 are the same amount away from 0, which is 6. Lets use blocks as an example: If you walk 1 block west away from your house. You walked 1 block. Now, lets say you walked 1 block east away from your house. You still only walked 1 block.
