Answer:

A map is a representation of selected characteristics of a place, usually drawn on a flat surface. Maps present information about the world in a simple, visual way. Choropleth maps are unsuitable for the symbolisation of graded absolute values. They distort the message of the map because the map viewer automatically takes into account the size of the areas.
