The zeros of f(x) = x^2 - x - 30 are x = 6 or -5

How to determine the zeros?

The function is given as:

f(x) = x^2 - x - 30

Expand

f(x) = x^2  + 5x - 6x - 30

Factorize the function

f(x) = x(x  + 5) - 6(x + 5)

Factor out x + 5

f(x) = (x - 6)(x + 5)

Set to 0

(x - 6)(x + 5) = 0

Solve for x

x = 6 or -5

Hence, the zeros of f(x) = x^2 - x - 30 are x = 6 or -5
