Early telescope makers compensated for chromatic aberration by using a concave mirror in place of a concave lens. This was based on the theory that the color of light does not break while getting reflected from a mirror. The color of light does break while getting reflected by a lens and creates a rainbow type color around an object when seen through a concave lens telescope.
