Well, you could partially solve this and get some that are equivalent.

The answer is 14x+4
First you distribute the 4 to the numbers inside the parentheses. 4(2x)=8x and 3(1)=4

You do the same for -(6x) but you distribute the negative sign. A negative times a negative is a positive so -(-6x)= 6x

Now your new equation is 8x+4+6x

Next you have to combine like terms. The like terms is this equation is 8x and 6x. So 8x+6x= 14x

Your final answer is 14x+4
