What was a Southern argument in favor of slavery?

Southerners sometimes used biblical passages in favor of slavery. Sometimes they also included economics as well, and history. Southerners often believed that if slavery ended, the cotton economy would collapse as well as crops drying in the fields. After all, the Southerners did use slaves to help with their crops.
