How seriously did the puritans take the written word of the Bible?

The puritans believed that the bible was strictly God's true law. 

One fundamental viewpoint is that the puritans were in the other sense a pure biblical movement. They were especially good in exegesis, and applied the scriptures as a holy word in the present situations of their lives. it is with the puritans that the spiritual essence of the biblical scriptures as an eternal voice of God was elevated.
