A trapezoid is never a rectangle.
By definition, a trapezoid is a quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel sides. A rectangle, by definition, is a parallelogram with 4 congruent right angles. This means that a rectangle must have 2 pairs of parallel sides for it to be a rectangle.
