This can be answered in a couple different ways. Chose your favorite or most believable. 1. Okonkwo was I willing to accept change and became rash with the colonials and his family causing him to be disbanded from his tribe. 2. Colonialism changed the consistency and tradition of an already functioning society.
Your answer could even be a combination of both.
